The Carolina Model Project got to shoot with one of my favorite models from April Thomas at Folly Beach. The forecast was for scattered showers, so we were hoping that luck would be on our side. Luckily it was on our side, an empty beach with an overcast sky, perfect.
On this shoot I decided to use my Nikon SB910 Speedlight (it's my go to if I can) with a 24 x 24 inch pop up softbox. I had not used Nikon's Creative Lighting System (CLS) in a while so I decided to give it a try before I broke out the Pocket Wizards. With a bright overcast sky acting like a giant diffuser and the one speedlight with the softbox, it was more than I needed to light my subject.
Always trying to think of something cool to shoot with, I happened to be at the grocery store and saw fresh pineapples on the way to the beach. Of course I had to grab one! We shot a few pics with the pineapple then cut it up to make a top which turned out to be our favorite images of the day. All in all, another great shoot with April. I am looking forward to our next shoot already.
Check out a few finished images and the behind the scenes video from the shoot.
